But you should also try playing games like Truth or Lie, I don't know if you ever played that game, but its a good convo starter and you get to know eveyone a little better.
-you say a lie or a truth about yourself
-you ask someone if they think its the truth or a lie
-if they guess wrong they have to say something about themselves and if they guess right they either get a gift or something creative.
Get some cool decorationbs also to get people in the mood for the holiday and party.
Maybe even a grab bag?
Havee funn and hope I gave good suggestions. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

- rent a kareoke machine, if a friend has one use theirs, etc. and play new years idol! 3 people at the party can be judges, the others can be contestants, and give away a prize for the best performer.
-DDR, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, are all good interactive competitve games that would be a hit at your party.
Games which involve dancing are also very popular on New Year's Eve. One game which is a lot of fun is similar to a game played by children. It involves periodically stopping the music while guests are dancing. Each time the music stops, the guests are supposed to freeze in their current position at that moment.
One person is designated as the judge and each time the music stops, the judge eliminates the last guest to realize the music has stopped and to freeze in their position. The last guest remaining is declared the winner of the game.

What we do is play "dealer calls it" poker. After every hand, the person to the left becomes the dealer of the next hand.
Dealer calls the variation of poker to play (such as 5 card draw, 5 card stud, 7 card draw, 7 card stud, 7 card no-peek, etc., etc.), and wild cards, if they even want any.
We generally play all night, especially if there are several players. We bet with chips (only for fun bets- no money), but if you don't have chips, you don't have to bet.
Or if you want, you can take $20 or so (depending on how many you'll have playing. The more people, the more rolls of change), to the bank and get rolls of change to use as bets. (It won't break you, because the change should be returned at the end of the game.)
Here is a link on how to play poker, and if you want to learn variations, there is a link to click. My personal favorite is 7 card no-peek, and my husband's is Jacks to open, trips to win (which one hand of that can go for quite a while).

~tell people that are coming to bring anything like food if they want
~there is some really really good like sparkling water that is fancy and comes in what looks like a kind of wine bottle, and it comes in all different flavors like pear, apple, and pomegranete apple are my favorite flavors.
~make sure to have like chips and soda (which i think you already know)
