you know when you go to like a resteraunt and you have more than eight people or so? Well they're like if you have a group more than that we include the tip! BUT DO YOU STILL PAY ADDITIONAL TIP?!
Usually, if you are being charged an automatic gratuity the restaurant is taking part of that. If the service was good, show them that by leaving a cash tip. Even if its just an extra dollar or two from each of you, it lets them know they did good work and that you appreciated it.
Generally speaking, if I went with a group and there were 8 of us and they charged us a 15% gratuity I would leave another 1-5 dollars on the table depending on the quality of the service and the size of the bill. Generally I wont leave a tip of more than 50 anywhere but then I occasionally see some pretty large bills. [ WittyUsernameHere's advice column | Ask WittyUsernameHere A Question ]
orphans answered Wednesday December 26 2007, 8:07 am: you dont have to pay additional tip, but ive never not done it. its kinda rude, and they already make such low wages and basically rely off tip for their incomes. so just leave an extra 3-4 dollars! if your with 8 people, thats like only 50 cents a person...

ciao77 answered Wednesday December 26 2007, 1:26 am: Most restaurants include the cost of the tip (usually around 15%) in the check when there are more than five or so people in the group. This is done to compensate for all the work the waiters have to do in serving so many guests, of course. Since the tip is already included, it isn't necessary or even expected to put extra on the table. The waiters already get their portion of the tips. Like the person below said, you can put a few dollars extra if you want, but really, the waiters already get 15-20% for tip anyway, so it's really not necessary. missbananafontana answered Tuesday December 25 2007, 7:34 pm: No, not always. The tip that you would've put on the table is included in the bill, then you have already paid the tip. But if the service was something special, feel free to put five to ten dollars for the waiter.
