Question Posted Friday December 21 2007, 9:24 pm

can anyone recommend a piano piece that's sad, slow, and mournful? i'm looking for a piece to play and i'm a sucker for anything slow, minor, and with weird harmonies :) thanks!

If you're up for a challenge, check out Thelonious Monk's "'Round Midnight". It's not reeeealllly sloooow, but there's some challenging dissonances, and since it's a classic jazz piece it should be easy to find the sheet music. Either that or else Charles Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat". Also look for Tom Waits' musical theater pieces: "Frank's Wild Years", "The Black Rider", "Alice", and "Blood Money". Any one of those shows will provide slow, mournful, really freakin' weird songs.

Phantom of The Opera?
But the slower (obviously) songs, like "Music of the Night", "All I Ask Of You" or "Think of Me"?

i like quicker songs, but the two slow ish songs ive played are by debussy. one is called reverie, and the other claire de lune. theyre both soo good. but they are extremely advanced, and you didnt say your level of experience

i really love "mellon collie and the infinite sadness" by the smashing pumpkins. you can probably look it up on youtube. here is an excerpt from the sheet music: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

i found the sheet music online quite some time ago, so i know it's available but i can't remember where it was.
