I've been having nosebleeds since I was little, but just recently in the past few weeks i've started to get them daily. Sometimes I'll get them in the shower, sometimes I'll get them when I'm just walking around my house. I'll put pressure on my nose, lean foward, put an ice pack on the bridge of my nose, but it takes about 20 minutes for them to stop. And I always have to blow my nose during it because I feel the mucus dripping down my throat. When I blow my nose, it'll be a big clump of bloody mucus. Sometimes it gets into my mouth and I'll have to spit it out.
Are these serious? Should I call my doctor? Thank you.

I'm starting to think of going to a doctor, but I've heard they burn the insides of your nose, which I am definitely not looking forward to. I think I'll wait until three weeks to go to a doctor, and in that time I am taking iron supplements to make up for iron lost in bleeding. When I get a nosebleed, I stick a wad of tissue up my nose. If you cut off the end, people won't notice until you get very close to them. I also do this preemptively before I go to sleep, so it doesn't wake me up.

That is a rather long time, not to mention you get them every day. I remember reading if they are frequent and last over 15 minutes, you need to see a doctor.
Make an appointment asap to rule out WHY you get them and to get the necessary treatment. Best of luck. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
