Leaving and missing school On Dec 25th I'm leaving on a flight to Germany to visit friends and relatives there. That's all fun and great BUT I'm worried about the school I'm going to miss. I won't be back until January 20th so that equals 12 days of missed school. My teachers all aren't very happy about it and are discouraging me from staying that long or even going at all. The thing is I already bought and booked my flight. So, should I go for the full time or should I shorten my visit by ten days? Note: my mother is really angry about me changing my plans because it costs 200 extra dollars but THEY ARE MY MARKS, not hers.

i would suggest getting all the work you will be missing and completeing it as soon as possible. and enjoy your trip. ]
I agree with Roxy.
Also, at least at my school, if you go on a trip abroad then you are able to get your work ahead of time, alternate assignments if need be, and you aren't penalized for going on the trip as long as the administration knows about it ahead of time.
If I were to go to germany for two weeks or so then I would inform our principal, get my assignments early (or get my alternate assignments) and possibly be told that for the trip to be excused under an education category I'd possibly have to write a paper.
This is (possibly) a once in a lifetime chance. I'd rather go and miss out on 2 weeks of school than miss out and be stuck at school. You can always make up the work later - but making up a trip to Germany would be very difficult. ]
You only live once and it's not the end of the world. Go on your trip and have a great time. You will catch up on your work that you miss out so don't be worried about it.
No one can make you feel bad about missing out on 10 days of school. It's not really that big of a deal when you think about it. There are worse things that can happen in the world.
Have a safe trip and a wonderful holiday, enjoy yourself and work hard when you get back! ]
