i have windows vista (and it sucks) and i'm trying to download fonts from dafont and i use winzip so after i unzip the font i drag the icon to the Fonts folder and then something pops up saying a bunch of chinese symbols then "this is not a valid font file and cannot be installed" whats wrong?

You're right: Windows Vista sucks. You may want to consider using Ubuntu Linux; it's a much smaller OS, there are fewer compatibility problems, and most file formats are supported. Best of all, you don't have to pay for an expensive license that allows Microsoft to occasionally look through your computer for software it doesn't like.

If all fonts from all sites do that, put in your Vista install disk, go to start, run and type "sfc /scannow". If all fonts from dafont do that, it's a problem with winzip, use 7-zip instead: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) . If it's only that one font, then that font is broken and you won't be able to use it. It might work if you download it again, especially with a different browser.

If you don't like Vista, you can install a different OS. It's possible to buy XP, and it will still be supported by Microsoft for some time. You can also install Ubuntu linux for free:
