First off, Think about if he is your first, And if you are his. That way you could add or elimidate the question of an STD. If you think for sure its not an STD then it could just be BV. It is very common in girls, I had it about three weeks ago. If you do have it, You could go to your gyno and get a medicine. Or just buy summers eve cleaning wipes for odor. Use them like three times a day for awhile and you should be fine. Also, Take more bath then showers, Because shower steem can cause bacterial build up, But dont douch or put any water up there. It will only make it worse. Hope it works out for you. [ nowaaay's advice column | Ask nowaaay A Question ]
alisonmarie answered Monday October 22 2007, 5:30 pm: If you wash your vaginal area too often, this can create problems with the natural balance, leading to smell. You describe yourself as a sort of hygiene freak, so perhaps that might be the problem.
The correct way to wash yourself is to only wash your genitals once a day. Use non-perfumed soap for sensitive skin - like that made for babies. Perfumed soap can irritate your vagina, again producing an unpleasant smell.
Wash around the outer and inner lips. Do NOT put the soap actually into your vagina. The vagina is an amazing self-cleaning thing - she doesn't need any extra help.
I would advise trying this for a few weeks before going for any products made specifically for this issue, as they can end up only masking the real problem. Try this and see if it works. If it does, great. If not, ask another question!
Also, please be aware that sexually transmitted infections can cause changes to the smell and discharge of your vagina. If you're having unprotected sex, it might be best to get screened.
BEKAH answered Monday October 22 2007, 4:49 pm: This problem actually occurs with alot of women. Some of which is worse then others. Use vagasil like the others told you to! Thats supposed to be one of the best for this problem. Maybe you should consider doucheing as well. That helps someties too. [ BEKAH's advice column | Ask BEKAH A Question ]
Other than that, be sure to continue washing regularly and washing thoroughly. Some odor is to be expected, but a foul stench is nobody's friend. Also, excess amounts of hair helps trap odor, so shaving or trimming any hair does, to some degree, have a health benefit.
missbananafontana answered Monday October 22 2007, 2:59 pm: That's vaginal odor, you can go to your local drugstore and get some ointment for it; try Vagisil or something like that. Oh, and next time, put what your question is actually about on the title. [ missbananafontana's advice column | Ask missbananafontana A Question ]
