Question Posted Wednesday October 17 2007, 9:40 am
I pierced my nose just 2 days ago and I even put the needle in alcohol and cleaned it real good.
Its really sore atill and with my friend nose piercing it was never like this
I'm hoping its not an infection but
Should I wait another few days its not sore anymore or take it out?
thelaura answered Wednesday October 17 2007, 12:49 pm: I wont lecture you on this, because what's done it done.
I've had mine done 3 times, just so you know, so I know alot about this.
Just because you put it in "alcohol and cleaned it real good" - it doesn't mean it was sterilized. Not to mention the jewelry!
The only way to effectively sterilize needles and jewelry is to put them in an autoclave.
ANYWAY.
If I were you, I'd give it about 2 days to settle down.
In the mean time, don't put any ointments on it. All you need is sea salt soaks. Apply them to your nose about 3/4 times daily, each for 15 minutes.
DO NOT touch it or play with it. You WILL get a nasty bump which will take months for it to go, okay?
If you start to see pus coming out and it's a bad colour, you will most probably need antibiotics and doctors advice. I know alot of the time you AREN'T suposed to take infected piercings out, because it leaves the infection inside your nose.

Edit:
It depends on the sizes of the jewelry. If it's a regular L shaped nose screw you're going to change it to, it should be fine. If it's thicker than the earring you have in at the moment, you'll have a but of trouble putting it in. Either way, it should be okay if you look after it well. Within the first 3 months, try not to change the jewelry any more while it heals. [ thelaura's advice column | Ask thelaura A Question ]
