I KNOW this sounds cheesy, but really, it's cute:
In the middle of a conversation, when you both temporarily run out of things to say, ask her what her one wish would be, and when she asks you, casually say somthing along the lines of, "I guess if you went out with me."
Then flash a big smile!

I wouldn't think that was cheesy.
I would consider that to be kind of cute.
You could say something like "Will you be my girlfriend?" or ask her "You know what would make me the happiest guy alive?" (wait for her to guess) than say "If you would be my girlfriend".
Whatever you say, it'll get the point across.
