uisforukelele answered Monday October 8 2007, 5:36 pm: since "famous" means well known, and "infamous" means well known for having a bad reputation, i would say it's just famous. unless it's considered a terrible dance and i'm missing something here, it's famous :) [ uisforukelele's advice column | Ask uisforukelele A Question ]
Jeanne answered Monday October 8 2007, 12:59 am: Well, "famous" means being widely known and celebrated, usually in a good way. "Infamous" means being widely known for something bad, usually like committing a crime or doing something scandalous.
Soooo... the dance in thriller would be considered famous, because so many people know about it and most people thought it was entertaining.
Unless you were talking to people who were totally against it and thought it had a horribly negative impact on dance, music videos, popular culture, etc. And there might be some people with that opinion! But for the most part, even if someone doesn't like it, they probably don't think there's any harm in it. So I think "famous" would be the proper term for it. summerbeautyxoxo answered Sunday October 7 2007, 11:31 pm: Well it depends on who your talking to.. I know my parents with out a doubt would say its famous, but some of the 10 year olds may not even know who michael jackson is! Me, being 16 WOULD say its famous.. a couple of movies have featured it as well!
Hope i helped,
