This is a very random question..But lets say my name is like Anna right? Can I change it to Annie? Or, you know...Not change it. Just use it. =) It's basically the same thing, right?
DearAbby92 answered Sunday September 30 2007, 8:19 pm: Do you mean you wish to be legally recognized as Annie? If so, then you must go through the entire processs of getting your name changed and appear at court. Of course you could just go by Annie, but you should sign all official documents with Anna. Now, if you want to legally change your name, as in when you sign the lease for a car, buy things, sign ANYTHING, etc. you'll have to do some paperwork. But anyone can change their name if they want to.
If you're under 18, I'm not entirely sure how you'd go about changing it. Your parents would most likely have to approve. If you don't really hate your name (like some people hate their names because they're named after their parent, for example) it'd be a whole lot easier to just have a nickname. :)
