A different kind of pretty?

Question Posted Sunday September 30 2007, 3:15 am

im wondering why everyone tells me im so pretty, yet guys don't think it. its not like me to really care, but its still a thought i keep in the back of my mind. guys see pretty as skinny blondes who are only fit to be in cover of Vouge. but when a girl tells you your pretty, they see it in greater detail. the color or you hair, eyes, skin tone; a different kind of pretty. when i look in the mirror, i look past the fact that im not a tall skinny blonde. i see how many shades of colors are in my hair, and i see how it brings out my eyes. yeah, im not the skinniest girl-- but im not really all that fat. i was raised to eat healthy, and i do. actually, i don't eat all that much junk food. yeah, sometimes i eat some candy, or even cake, but its not really all that much. im average. but yet people tease me about my weight, claiming that im over 120-- sometimes even say im 140. but im not. and who really cares, anyway? looks have become so important to people. so important, they look past the really nice, good people, who are actually interesting and have a greater IQ than their shoe size.

sorry its not really a question..
so here is the real one:
why is it guys think so differently?
im sure that there is at least ONE guy who thinks in greater detail, right?

Guys who are good looking themselves definitely aren't going to want a girl who is just average. The girl might not see themself as average but if you aint attractive to the guy or any other guy then the person wont want you. If the guy is not all that good looking then most likely he will have sense not to go for only really good looking girls because they probably wont want him. But all guys want a hott dreamy girl thats like in the magazines. And all girls want that perfect dreamy guy. But your not always going to find that and people need to realize a persons beauty within. But hey its the 21st century.. thats gunna be hard. But all i can say is look for a good guy.

I think often times we don't give guys enough credit.

Not all girls see in detail. There are some girls who can't even remember their friend of a year's eye color. Same with guys.

Girls do tend to get it more often...but its not like guys miss it all together.

I think most of the time the guys who DO notice things like the little specs of green/gold/blue/whatever in your eyes, the subtle highlights in your hair, and that sort of thing aren't the sort of guys who have the confidence to ask a girl out right away XD you know?

The average guy with enough nads to ask a girl out right after meeting her isn't going for personality or subtle beauty...they can't possibly have enough time to notice between the "ZOMG HOTNESS" and "GO OUT WITH ME SEXY LADY" time frame.

The kind of guy who sees the detail is the one who hangs back. The one who is too shy to ask a girl out with the basic "sexy girl radar" instinct. You know...the one who will actually TALK to you for more than 20 minutes before thinking they know you. They do exist. >_> though they do seem to be rare.

I'm guessing you're a teenager
And...well...that just means there are even less of them for us. There aren't really that many teenage girls who will look THAT closely at how a guy looks - just see the overall picture.

Sucks. I know. D:

Guys don't look for beautiful in relationships in their teens. Guys look at who will 'satisfy' their needs. But when they grow older and mature they start seeing more details to a girls beauty than blonde, skinny and large chested.

I know it's a pain, and all us girls have to live and wait, but one day it'll change.

Yes....there are guys that think in greater detail and look passed the surface but those are really hard to find. They are out there tho. Guys think diffrently because they dont want their guys friends to tease them about how their girlfriends look. You just have to say to heck with them and find you a nice guy. But some girls think that way too. Some girls and guys just think looks are everything. But i have always thought the way you think.
