Should i even bother with my homework?! Ok this week was my first week of high shcool and almsot every homework we did, I busted my ass off and stayed up late doing it and the teacher doesn't even collect it!
Why does it even matter to do my homework then?!

Honestly, your 'five pages from the textbook, math sheets, and more' sound like heaven on earth compared to the work I get = (I'm up until two AM almost every day, and school barely started). But anyway.
The point of doing homework is (at least, a teacher will tell you this) so you will be prepared for school the next day and will better know the material. Even though it gives you more practice with what you learned in school, frankly, I hate it to death, and I hope it falls into hell. The only reason I waste my time with it each day is because it only gets collected on days I don't do it; and if your luck is as great as mine, you should start doing yours, too. Unless you don't mind failing. D: ]
I hate to tell you this: but tough luck.
Teachers suck, school sucks. I understand, because when I bust my ass, and the teacher doesn't collect it, it pisses me off too. But if you don't do it one night, the next day'll probably be when she decides to collect something.
So, just do your best, even talk to her about it. But don't just not do it.

I can sit here and tell you why teachers give homework. How it's best to learn by doing etc. You know all that already though. You know that homework matters and why. The problem isn't that, the problem is that the teacher isn't making it seem worth it in the here and now and that's important too. It's hard to motivate yourself to do work when there's no reward that you can see.
I think that you should tell the teacher that you feel this way (nicely, of course). Teachers sometimes think that they're doing you a favor by not collecting the homework, when in reality, it just makes the class angry because they start to feel like their hard work isn't being appreciated.
What's even worse than what you're describing is when teachers go around and put a check mark on everybody's homework and don't even look at the answers or go over them. Everybody gets the same credit just for doing it. Then, you don't even try to get the right answers, you just focus on getting it done because that's all the teacher is focusing on. Plus, you have no idea how you did so you could be doing it completely wrong and not know it until a test! At least your teacher isn't doing that.
Good luck and I hope that your teacher takes your opinions seriously. :) ]
Well there are options here you either remind your teacher to collect the homework or just let a couple of days without doing the homework, see what happens or do it anyways because some teachers when ever they feel like it they decide to collect all the homework during the week, and I understand how you feel I've had been in this situation before. ]
