My best mate is leaving on saturday to live in cyprus. I want to get her a present but i'm not sure of what to get her.

Jewelery is probably your best bet. If you cant get her that get her something meaing full to both of you so everytime she looks at it, it reminds her of you.

give her a cell if she doesn't have one (pay as you go) and lots of time so you guys can talk and then you can talk to her whenever!!!

The thing most people do in situations like this is make a scrap book. Have it involve all your best times, photos, short stories, friendship quotes etc. It's comes from the heart and it's sentimental, which is nice.
As for a gift, it's a bit wide for anyone here to suggest things because we don't know what your friend likes.
How about a friendship bracelet. Get something both of you can have, so it will remind you of each other.
