thelaura answered Thursday September 6 2007, 6:30 pm: The thing most people do in situations like this is make a scrap book. Have it involve all your best times, photos, short stories, friendship quotes etc. It's comes from the heart and it's sentimental, which is nice.
As for a gift, it's a bit wide for anyone here to suggest things because we don't know what your friend likes.
