I believe it is illegal for companies to sell tobacco products to people under the age of 18 in Australia.
I recently heard that you are able to smoke when you are 16 in Australia. But how can this be if you cannot purchase tobacco products if you are underage?
Can somebody clear this up for me an tell me the legal smoking age in Australia??
Any links would also help.
I tried to look for myself but with no luck.

So you were correct the legal age to buy is 18, but the legal age to light up is 16. [ khadiya's advice column | Ask khadiya A Question ]
