i don't know what's wrong with me, but for some reason i can't get a boyfriend.I'm 15/f and I haven't had one [or a kiss] in the LONGEST. im becoming more and more depressive and lonely as days go by. It kills me inside to have to watch couples everywhere, specially because i know its MY fault. i get "hollered" at A LOT even walking down the street, so i know its not because im ugly or anything.lately, i cant even hold ANYONE'S glance for more than 2 seconds. im also the least outgoing out of, well, basically everyone i meet, and everything depresses me. i dont know what to do to get over my stupid shyness and get a boyfriend despite my lack of motivation to do so. I bet people, including my own friends, think im lesbian or something. what do you guys think?
amarand answered Sunday August 26 2007, 9:48 pm: I had the exact same problem as you..I was the last one of my friends to have a serious boyfriend and lose my virginity (not that that matters.) Sometimes when you've lived in the same town for a while its hard to find someone who is compatible with you. But things will change, I'm sure you're an attractive girl and you know that so why are you letting it depress you? At least you're waiting for the right guy instead of going for any jerk that hollers at you on the street. My best advice is to stop looking and just let things happen. There are a lot of random places that you might meet your perfect guy..at a party, at a concert, at the beach. So just stop looking and wait for him to come to you! Don't let the fact that you haven't had a boyfriend stop you from being outgoing. When you meet new people, you can be anyone on you want, so why don't you try to have more of an outgoing personality? Guys are attracted to confident girls who seem like they've got nothing to worry about. And if a few months pass and you still haven't met the right guy..don't worry. College will come before you go out and there are billions of options that will overwhelm you. [ amarand's advice column | Ask amarand A Question ]

First, it is very important that you don't measure your worth or your happiness by your relationship status. It isn't fair to you and you will make yourself feel worse.
Are you shy around everyone, or just boys that you like? If you are shy around everyone, practice raising your hand in class or inviting someone new to sit at your table during lunch. If you are just shy around boys you like, you can follow these steps. You can even follow them if you are shy around everyone, if you want to. :)
1.) Imagine yourself having a conversation with a boy you like. Imagine everything going well. Don't imagine any flaws.
2.) Try to have a conversation with a guy friend, a friend's boyfriend, or another boy that you aren't interested in. Talk about anything. This will give you confidence and it will show you that you can talk to guys.
3.) Have a conversation with a boy you like. Now that you have had the practice, you should be able to do this step with more ease.
Remember to have a positive attitude. Also, a good idea is to practice on boys while you are on vacation or away from home for another reason. If you get embarrassed, it won't matter much because you won't see the person again.
Don't worry, you are still young. You're 15. I know you want a boyfriend, but remember that there will be a lot of guys in the future, and they will come when you aren't looking. :) A new school year is starting up, so maybe a new boy will catch your eye.
I'm sorry if I don't have a lot of tips for you, but I didn't know how shy you are and who you are shy around. I didn't want to give too much information that wouldn't apply to you. If you have anymore questions or want more information, feel free to ask me. :)
