Birth control for teens?

Question Posted Monday August 20 2007, 11:55 pm

My friend is really eager to have sex with her boyfriend, but I am worried that she will get pregnant because she doesn't have any form of birth control (other than condoms, but they don't always work). Her mom would never allow her to get on the pill, so is there some way she could get it without her mother knowing? She is fifteen, if that helps at all.

www.plannedparenthood.org

find your nearest location or get a referral from them. or look in your phone book if you're afraid to use the net. free or sliding scale. they won't tell parents.

Planned Parenthood. Find one close to you, go with her. They might be able to help with the birth control.

2) VCF. Vaginal Contraceptive Film. They are sold over the counter in the same place condoms are in stores like walgreens. Your friend can put one inside herself 15 minutes prior to sex, and then it melts into spermicide. (They look like thick, flexible breath strips). This is a good back up because it works fine with latex condoms and is an extra bit of protection in case the condom breaks.

I'm not even going to touch the whole "fifteen year old having sex without having thought through birth control" issue.

One thing I learned about in Sex Ed last year was Spermicide. Anyone can buy it, just at the drugstore or whatever, and it's relatively inexpensive. It increases the effectiveness of condoms. However, it doesn't protect against STD's, only pregnancy.

Here's some more information (or you could Google it):

Anyways, like someone else said, it would probably be good for her to hit up Planned Parenthood.

I hope I helped :)

I know that everyone is going to tell you that she's way too young...and she is...she isn't fully capable of making a decision like having sex yet...she's not emotionally mature enough...but if there is honestly nothing that anyone can do about it and she's just soooo set on it tell her to go to planned parent hood...they can give her birth control...but she'll have to go through a few exams first...but she really is too young to be having sex...whether she loves him or not...I lost my virginity when I was 14...I thought I loved him...it was honestly the biggest mistake of my life...i have never regretted anything up until then...but it's her life...but as her friend you should let her know what she's getting herself into before she takes the leap.

having sex in age 15 is just wrong. try your hardest to talk her out of it. my friend's mom had her when she was 15. maybe they don't have to have sex... if she wants it so bad then tell her to get fingered or something -..-

Hey. First of all, your friend is lucky to have a friend like you that cares about her so much. I'm not sure of the age but I believe at 15 you can go to plannedparenthood and they wil sort of interview your friend and make sure she is ready and then she will put her on the pill. Help your friend make sure she is ready before she has sex though. It's a huge step and you don't want her to regret it. If you have any questions call plannedparenthood (you can google one in a location near you) I wish you guys good luck! ♥ fabulous
