You can also try using vinegar. Never use an abrasive cleaner on your iron. It will scratch
the surface and cause more problems in the future.

Michele answered Wednesday August 15 2007, 8:46 am: Well you have to UNPLUG the iron, and take it over to the sink. That stuff is baked on so it will take some work. Steel wool, like a brillo pad, or some comet on a sponge, and scrub it off. Be sure to get it all, and then be sure to rinse it well. Let it dry before using it again
