On that website it has many downloads and I'm not sure which ones I'm supposed to download! Can anyone tell me which ones I'm supposed to download and why? (I have Windows XP <--- not the smiley face, the type of computer lol....)

download.com

just go there to download gimp, it's much simpler and guaranteed virus free.

Did you read the page? It's pretty clear:
"If this is the first time you're installing The GIMP, you will also need GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment below."

"This package is required to run The GIMP on Windows 2000 and newer. If you have older version of Windows, install GTK+ 2.6 instead."

Download the first two:

The GIMP for Windows (version 2.2.17)
and
GTK+ 2 Runtime Environment (version 2.10.13, for Windows 2000 and newer)

that's enough to get gimp to work.
