Ellipticals can burn a ton of calories and unlike running, they're much easier on your joints. Over time, running can really give you bad knees and ankles but elliptical trainers (or cross-trainers) can give you a workout that's just as good as running without so much impact on your joints.
I'd recommend joining the gym or investing in one for home. They're definatly worth it.
Aside from that, all cardio burns alot of calories. Cardio is anything that gets your heart pumping so it could be running, swimming, rope jumping, dancing, etc.. [ xxclusive's advice column | Ask xxclusive A Question ]

and if you want to really lose weight. Start changing the daily habit.
Park in the further spot in parking lot instead closer one.
Walk on stair instead of elevator.
Drink water instead of Coke.
Eat more fresh vegtable instead of french fries.
