ok, so lately i've been working out a lot. I run three miles in the morning and then do the elyptical for an hour (600 calories) plus some free weights. I eat about 1000 calories a day. Do you think this is too much? I feel like it isn't, but my mom is starting to act like she thinks i'm over doing it. I'm not overweight, 5'5" and 130, i'm in good shape, like i'm athletic, i just want to lose that "baby fat" around my stomach and arms. Should I keep going at this pace, and what should I tell my mom, because she's gonna think i'm anorexic if I keep turning down chocolate icecream!

BLONDShorty answered Tuesday August 7 2007, 10:53 pm: well, if you don't feel like it's enough, it's probably not. i don't think 1000 calories is very healthy if your doing doing that much work. i think 1800 is a good amount, because you don't want to faint in the middle of all of this, and you're already feeling like it's not enough, so that's a sign your body isnt happy. a lot of people don't know that anorexia is more of a mental disease, about obsession with food and calories, and eventually they may get skinny like that, but it's really all in their head because most of the girls who are anorexic weren't even overweight to begin with. so, don't sweat it, and tell you're mom your nto anorexic, just that you want to eat more healthy, and it's ok to have chocolate icecream every once in a while, and try even frozen yogurt every once in a while if you just want to be healthy. but, such low calories are not healthy, especially since your doing all this work. good luck! bLue_in_tHe_faCe answered Tuesday August 7 2007, 10:04 pm: Somewhere I heard if you exercise for more than like an hour you should eat atleast 2000 calories. I think you should just eat around 1600. I mean your doing alottt of working out too, so 1600 is good.
LM answered Tuesday August 7 2007, 9:22 pm: I don't think you're anorexic, but I think you should be eating at least 1500-1800 healthy calories a day, 1000 isn't really enough. Ice cream is okay occassionally, so don't deprive yourself completely. Explain to your mom that you're not anorexic, you just don't want to eat icecream everyday anymore! Plus, the amount of exercise your doing is fine, espeically if you're training for a fall sport. Just make sure you're eating enough & if you get too sore, cut back on the time you spend on the elliptical a little.
