Don't know if this is the right place but, I'm going to be in 10th grade this year and Volleyball season is starting in two weeks. I am so nervous I think I'm going to explode. I'm a good player (not to be a jerk), but I think I might lose it as soon as I step onto the court. How do I stay calm and keep my body relaxed as well before I end up having an anxiety attack? (again...)
thanks,
nervous

Volleyball2150 answered Saturday August 4 2007, 9:50 pm: Hey, I play volleyball too and I know exactly how you feel. That's how I felt last year, even the year before that. heck, I've always felt like that. there's a saying that i heard someone once say "when you're nervous, you know that you're ready" So don't even think about you failing or messing up... just think about all of the positive things. If you keep negative thoughts in your head, bad things WILL happen. And you obviously don't want that to happen. You just gotta let loose and remember to have fun.
The main key about trying out for any kind of team is not only the skills and talent that you have, but also your pride and emotions when you do it. So don't play from your head, play from your heart. Play because you love to play. A lot of people are feeling the same way as you, and you know what happens to a lot of them?? they keep thinking the worst, and BAM! the worst actually happens and they get cut from the team... or something else. Just like the other advicenator said, do something that makes you calm.... laugh, cry, listen to music... anything that makes you calm and focused.
Also, have faith. You MUST have belief that you can do this. If you don't, then that means you truely do not want this. 20% talent, 80% heart. remember that.
just have fun! don't even think about making 'the' team... just be yourself and don't worry. think of it as 1 huge practice with a lot of girls. I garuntee you that you are not the only one who is feeling nervous. You just have to prove to these people that you can do it. that you can handle adversity.
