uisforukelele answered Tuesday July 31 2007, 11:41 pm: this question jumps out at me because there was something about this on msnbc.com today. the headline for the story was "one joint equivalent to 5 cigarettes". weed is bad because it is a drug and it is illegal. it is not as bad as other drugs, such as cocaine or methamphetamines. it messes with your mind, like alcohol but to a higher degree. it kills brain cells and can cause long term health problems. as for the thing i talked about on msnbc.com, i'm actually not sure how much a joint is because i don't smoke pot. i think a joint is like the size of one cigarette. snowshreddinmike answered Tuesday July 31 2007, 11:20 pm: no its not that bad for you at all
at drug class they told us that smokeing 3 blunts (about getting high 3 times ) is like smoking a pack of ciggeretes
and it is extremely hard to get addicted to weed
the only reason people say its bad is becuase its illegal and ciggertes are actully worse becuase you can get addicted
i used to smoke but got caught and had to quit [ snowshreddinmike's advice column | Ask snowshreddinmike A Question ]
hotie91292 answered Tuesday July 31 2007, 11:16 pm: its better than ciggarettes, because there is no tar or nicotine, but it is still bad. it limits the oxygen to your brain and kills brain cells. it also damages your lungs [ hotie91292's advice column | Ask hotie91292 A Question ]
sdcutie717 answered Tuesday July 31 2007, 11:15 pm: Yes, weed is kind of like cigarettes in the fact that it is terrible for your lungs. In that sense, it has much of the same effect.
It also kills your short term memory. It makes your reaction time slower, and it will slowly thicken the walls of your brain cells until you have trouble processing information. (Basically, it makes you dumber) When you start smoking pot, you will feel that you are not able to think as well as you did when you didn't smoke.
While weed is not addictive, it has been known as a "gateway" drug. This means that once you start smoking pot, you will want to try new, and harder drugs that are addictive. You may think that it won't have that effect on you, but that is kinda like saying that you won't get addicted to a drug. Pot makes you stop caring about things. You won't care about your schoolwork, your family/friends, your reputation, or your BODY.
You will find other drugs more appealing because you will stop caring about the bad effects of them. If you smoke enough, it will be hard to stop. While there is no chemical addiction related to pot, it is still a bad habit to break.
Not to mention the reputation that you will get by smoking, the bad decisions that you will make while you are high, and the legal aspects of it. Trust me from experience, when you are stoned, you don't CARE if you get caught by the cops and go to jail. You wont care that you are driving thirty miles over (more likely under) the speed limit.
Everyone, including myself that I've ever talked to that has smoked pot has regreted it. You will too.
Kimmy27 answered Tuesday July 31 2007, 11:10 pm: ok, i rew up with a family full of stoners, and i myself smoke... it is not the same as smoking 10 ciggs, its about the as smoking 3.. maybe 5.... weed isnt that badforyou, its the sameas ciggs, people will tell youweed can kill you, IT CANT there has NEVER been a death from weed...they saw weed kills your brain cells, ALCOHOL kills more than weed.. weed doesnt mess with your head.. it ets you high, relaxes you.. alcohol is FAR more worse than weed...
it is justthe same as a cigg, so despite what every one says.. its not true, its not bad for you
if it was bad for you, why woudl doctors give it to people? it helps in some cases, takes stress away, if you havean eating problem, i makes you want to eat..
ifit was bad, why would there be countries that is itlegal in?
