Good reasons to get your cartilage pierced, and are cartilage piercings trashy looking?

Question Posted Monday July 30 2007, 12:41 pm

I want to get my cartilage done but my mom is extremly against it since there is a high risk of infection. I'm willing to pay for the piering, take the time to clean it and get a small silver ball so it's not highly visable. I would get it done at a doctors office so theres a less chance of infection but I'm not sure if they do cartilage piercings. I don't know if its that she thinks this piercing will lead to other ones, it looks trashy or she thinks it will get infected. I want to convince her its not for any of those reasons and that there are ways to have your cartilage done and have it not look trashy. (Like by wearing small studs) I have two piercings on each side and don't intend on having anything more done than my cartilage. I just need help convincing her about this. I'm 15/f btw.

hi,
Im 14/f and I got my cartilidge done when I was like 12 and at first my mom was fine with it but I had to do a lot of convincing for my belly button so here's some things that may work. go online and find good pictures of cartilidge piercings that don't look trashy, although im not sure how they'd look trashy in the first place haha, anyway then show those to your mom. I have my upper cartilidge done on one side and like the middle cartilidge on the other side and honestly I didn't clean them everyday and I changed them within the first week I got them and they're doing great. ah I hope I helped <3

Well i have 6 cartilage piercings, they do not hurt and none of mine get infected. I love them.
But after you get it done they are very addicting .
&& just go to like a urban exchange if you want it done with a needle or claires if u want it done with a gun.
It doesnt hurt at all i promise

tell your mom why you want it. be calm when she starts to go against it. tell her youre responsible by having it done at a doctors office and not some free piercing place in the mall.
hope i helped ♥ steph

honestly, there isnt that big of a chance youll get an infection, tell her that you think it would look good, and be very kind and understanding about it, be poliet, and if she says no say you understand.

I got mine done at the age of 15 at piercing pigoda and to this day (2 1/2 years later) it has never gotten infected (along with my 5 other piercings).... my mom was super against it too! i begged for like 2 years before i got it pierced... it took me till i was in 12 before i could even get my 2nd hole pierced.. if begging hasnt worked for you set a goal to achieve to get it done... i asked in 7th grade to get by belly button pierced and after a no for over a year my mom decided if i got a 4.0 (i was getting 3.3-3.5 at the time) then i could get it done... Finially May of this year I got it done and not only was I happy i also felt a sense of accomplishment

i have mine
and i got it about 6 months ago?
and its never been infected
i got it done at clairs
but i was lucky cause i didnt have to convince my mom
they gave me this cleaning stuff
and all you have to do is clean it like 3 times aday
it hurts for awhile when you go to sleep
but just dont sleep on that side
and you have to make sure you turn it
and now its just a habbit for me to turn it every so offten
but i made a big mistake when i bought a hoop earing
it hurt really bad to put it in and it was after 3 month i had (they told me i can change it after 3 months)
so if you get it done
stick with the stud they give you :]
hope this helped..

Cartlidge piercings aren't trashy, whether you where a small stud, or a hoop. Though I wouldn't reccomend it. Haha. Anyways, a piercing parlor is just as professional and clean as a doctor, if not more so because they specialize in piercings. Show your mom pictures of the piercing on google, and explain to her you are more than willing to take care of it. It's just an ear piercing. Seriously. Make her understand that.
