Question Posted Saturday December 29 2007, 10:36 pm
ok well im 15 and i have had a lot of tragic things in my life. but i finally stoped dwelling on the past when i realized that there r other people who have it way worse.all the things that have happened to me just made me appreciate life more. i am a very strong, caring, and determined person. so my for my question.... well when i turn on the t.v. theres allways charitys going on for cancer and make a wish foundations and people all around the world who are barley surviving and how we as a generation are destoring the world...ect. well all these things touch my heart and i just wanna have the power to change the world for the good... but being that im not evan old enough to have a job i am unfortunitly unable of evan donating... well i finally came up with an idea... i want to creat a.. an organizatoin were people can donate to what ever charity that touches them the most.. were 100% of all money is donated to the cause. i want to make something that is huge that every one knows about. like websites and marathons and t.v. broadcasting. i know that it will take a great deal of time before it reaches that point but i am willing to dedicate my life to this. Two of my most favorite things about life is helping and persuading people to do good. so i figure why not put these together. im not wanting to do this for any profit except to see the world around me a better place. the only thing is i dont have a clue where to start. i was thinking of starting with a petion. no money just names at first. once i reach a certian amount i want to give it to someone who can help... but i dont know who. i'm stuck in a box and i need advise from someone with more knowledge. i dont care how many people who tell me i cant do it because if there is a will there is a way and i have so much determination that i am ready for what ever it takes. can you give me advice on how to get started? all i need is a nudge in the right direction. if you think there is somthing wrong can you give my some insight of how to fix it? love
?rhonda?

Personally I think making a petition is a great idea, also another thing you can do is just spread the word, tell people you know to tell people they know, so on and so forth. You can also post advertisements in your local grocery stores, churches, schools, community centers..etc..State your determination about creating this charity, maybe even create a seperate e-mail dedicated to this, post it around and tell people if they are interested in your idea to e-mail you and share with you their ideas. Also, see your school guidance counsellor, principal or a teacher who you enjoy speaking with to see what their thoughts are and who you might be able to see in order to get it launched. Hope I could help and good luck!

uisforukelele answered Sunday December 30 2007, 1:10 am: you are a very charitable person. there are lots of ways to help out besides just giving money... volunteering is one of my favorite things. it just gives me such a warm feeling inside. i'm part of a club at my school that is a service organization- we go volunteer to do things in the community, such as serve food at the homeless shelter, play bingo with the elderly at nursing homes, and other stuff. plus, we do canned food drives and toy drives and things of that sort. anyway, i think it would be a great idea for you to think about starting a club like this at your school. it looks so great on a resume, and a lot of people will probably be into it if you make it sound fun. you can go volunteer at places around your community. donating money is not everything, and donating your time is so much more meaningful. other things you can do to help out would be to just give away old clothing, start recycling, et cetera. but definitely get your friends involved and get a group going where you can volunteer in your city. it doesn't matter if you start small- you still make a difference, no matter what. i can't tell you how great it makes me feel after i volunteer at the homeless shelter, or after i go visit retirement homes. another good idea around the holiday (perhaps for next year) is to volunteer at the salvation army ringing the bells and collecting donations. the sky is the limit. good luck :) [ uisforukelele's advice column | Ask uisforukelele A Question ]

AngelofMercy answered Saturday December 29 2007, 11:00 pm: You are a very noble person for wanting to do good in the world. My suggestion for you would to be, start small. I know it doesn't seem like it would do much good, but as you grow and get more experience, then you will be able to do more. There are places all over that can use a good volunteer to help out with charitable orginazations. A local hospital could be looking for someone to come and talk to the lonely patients or read to them, or even play games. I would make sure to talk to the person in charge first so you don't interrupt some of the more sickly patients that can't be involved. There are also local Veteran's Hospitals that you could do the same. Another thing, there are hospices that could use help organizing or distributing items to the sick. Homeless shelters may need volunteer help as well. If you just think of all the places that are contributing to a good cause, you could always go and see if they need help. At least this way, you are getting your foot in the door and seeing where you can go from there. It would be a wonderful experience for you. Good Luck! orphans answered Monday July 23 2007, 10:32 pm: Good for you for wanting to make the world a better place. I would start by asking your family and friends if they would think of donating to such a thing. Then I would maybe start a website and fliers and such to get the word out. Talk to other charities and see how they came about and ask them for tips and such.
