I have mono. I started by getting a horrid sore throat around June 25th. The sore throat only lasted a few days. Now the only symptoms I have are fatigue & I can feel that my spleen is enlarged & I have back pain, etc. When would it be okay to start kissing again?? Thanks!!

well I had mono (I didn't get it from kissing... so I don't know how in the world I got it) and my family's history is based upon doctors and nurses etc.
Well, my dad found out from my uncle that mono doesn't completely go away after a few weeks... it stays in you longer... much much longer.
Sorry to break it to you, but mono isn't completely gone from your immune system until around 6 months. It's best if you don't kiss/share spit with others.
Main idea- REST!! even if you're not tired, rest because like my mom always says "extra rest gives extra strength "
and what she means by extra strength, is that it will go away faster.
I hope I helped!

PS: I know this is harsh, but kissing is not the only thing you cannot do. Don't even share a drink with your friends. Make sure you wash your hands a lot and if you with a lot of people, try to recognize your drink. [ Volleyball2150's advice column | Ask Volleyball2150 A Question ]

If you're not contagiuos and you can handle a momentary lack of airflow then you're fine.
If you've ever seen Something's Gotta Give with Jack Nicholson(sp?) then you know after his heart attack in the movie his doctor says no sex until you can walk a flight of stairs.
Soo, once your fatigue is mostly gone (or all the way gone) and you're not in much pain, and you're not contagious - kiss away.
BUT because I'm probably dumb and possibly wrong, check with a doctor. You may think it's embarassing to ask, but it really isn't. They get questions like this a lot. [ S_C's advice column | Ask S_C A Question ]
