Help with kids!!!!

Question Posted Tuesday July 17 2007, 11:44 pm

OK, so Im working with kids about ages 7 to 10, although there is 1 6yr old and one who's 4. I've so run out of stuff to do with them! I need some game Ideas. They love Simon says, any kind of tag, froggy murderer, lots of different stuff. Plus, how do I get them to focus while theyre hyper?! PLZ HELPPP!

One game that always used to calm down the hyper kids I used to look after was dead lions.

Basically the kids have to lay down on the floor/grass and stay as still as they can for as long as they can! As soon as you see them so much as twitch they are out! (Alhough if you want them laying down quietly they you may want to forgive the odd movement!)

It works better with kids over 5 because they actually get what they are supposed to be doing (i.e. laying still!)

Have fun

Mel

Are you allowed to have them play with water? You could do water balloon tosses/fights. Or you could just blow up a ton of ballons and let them play. A sprinkler. A slip-n-slide [it's only about $20].A scavenger hunt. Musical chairs. Telephone. Red rover. A game of baseball/football/soccer/volleyball etc. My mom watches my three cousins- 2, 5, and 10 during the week and the 5 and 10 year old are occupied for HOURS on the computer [i.e. disneychannel.com, nick.com, cartoonnetwork.com, clubpenguin.com, webkinz, etc.].
As for getting them focused when they're hyper, I'm still trying to figure that one out, haha. Maybe try bribing them? That usually works.
I hope some of these helped. Try googling 'party games for kids'. Even if it isn't a party, they still have some good ideas to do with a few kids. Good luck!

Offer them things to get them to calm down. Tell them if they behave, you'll give them a reward. Then make it something simple like a cookie or ten extra minutes outside. They'll be looking forward to it and there's a chance it could work.

For other things to do with them..
Play like..

- Red Light, Green Light.
- Red Rover.
- Play card games.
- Arts & Crafts

Good luck & that sounds like fun. :P
