Last summer, we had lightning strike our home and though our computer was still functional, for some time the screen color was green and pink all the time.
I wouldn't say you should have to unplug everything, but be sure it is turned off. If it isn't using power to run, then the surge protector will keep it from frying.
Marizzle answered Wednesday July 18 2007, 7:32 am: Yes most definitely and i unplug mine too. any lighting strike to power lines or even the phone lines can fry your computer.
Most surge protectors only stop up to 150,000 volts. lightening is usually much more than that and will allow the excess voltage to leak past them.
Also if your hand happens to be on the mouse or keyboard and a strike does hit the powerlines then computer, your going to get a nasty shock. [ Marizzle's advice column | Ask Marizzle A Question ]
