Dog Bath

Question Posted Saturday July 14 2007, 12:32 pm

I have a 5-year old Yellow Lab, and I was wondering if I gave her a bath, would it be okay just to use "people" shampoo? We don't have any dog shampoo in the house, & my dad is too cheap to go out and buy any.

Would she be okay?

lol your dad sounds exactly like my dad. i use human shampoo on my dog all the time. the best kind i think is one that gives hair shine. it makes the dogs coat look really healthy.

You can use it but it can irratate their skin causing them to scratch. You can find some dog shampoos at your local dollar store. They're not as good of quality as average dog shampoos but they'll work. ^^

It wouldn't be good. They make dog shampoo for a reason. People shampoo will irritate their skin. Just wait until you can get dog shampoo rather than rush and use people shampoo =]

You shouldn't use human shampoo on any animal as the PH is totally wrong for it. Each one will be formulated particularly for that type of animal.

You can usually get relatively cheap doggie shampoos at a pet shop or superstore.
