I asked a few weeks ago about losing 20 lbs in 2 months, and apparently it's too extreme. So I guess I'm lowering my goal to 15 lbs. (17f/145 lbs/163cm)
My diet so far includes:
breakfast - rye bread with jam / green tea (I have nothing else to drink)
lunch - rice with chicken breast or noodles in soup with lettuce
dinner - more rice with either eggs/chicken/fish/pork/beef etc. with various vegetables on the side
Snacks - baked pretzels, cheerios or seaweed
I exercise 3-4 days a week, 1 1/2 - 2 hr @ a gym, burning off anywhere in between 400 to 600 calories (depending on how much time I spend there). I do not do muscle training because it's always too crowded in the area.
I never feel sore or tired. And whenever I laze around at home I feel incredibly bored because time goes by so slowly, whereas at the gym time flies by. So would it be okay if I went for more than 4 days? And is my goal achievable, or should I drop it another 5 lbs.
thanks.

like for breakfast try oatmeal, non-fat vanilla yogurt, and an apple.
lunch can be like a turke sandwhich, non-fat chocolate pudding, peaches.
dinner sounds good though.
for the snacks add more veggies or fruits.
excersising is good. you're supposed to burn 500 calories per day in order to loose a pound of fat (fat is more than just a pound of weight).
good luck.
i'm going back on the same diet.

And with the gym situation, maybe you could buy your own hand weights? Doing strength training helps you lose weight and speeds up your metabolism too, because muscle burns calories just by being there and fat does not, so the more muscle you have, the less you have to work to make your body burn calories. Having more muscle also means you can eat a bit more without putting on weight, as you'll need more energy for your muscles to work. Or else you could use this calorie deficit to lose weight, that's how strength training usually works :) If you feel bored at home, maybe you could hire some cardio equipment to use when you're bored or watching tv, etc?
It's fine to do cardio exercise every day, but if you do begin weight training, keep it to 3-4 times a week so you give your muscles a chance to build/repair themselves. [ rollergirl66's advice column | Ask rollergirl66 A Question ]
katieneedsadvice answered Friday July 13 2007, 1:00 pm: Well when i checked your BMI you were on the line between normal and overweight. To me don't lose ALOT of weight but if you lose like 15 pounds you get into the normal range of people and if you lose like 40 you will be under wieght for your height. so don't go crazy! ok?? a few things. no more than 5 pounds a week. so in 8 weeks, you can lose up to 40 pounds. so uhm, no 20 pounds really isn't that extreme if you are overweight [i didn't bother checking your BMI i'll just take your word for it].
anyway, all your meals sound great except... as a snack, maybe instead of baked pretzels which can cause you to be more hungry, try nuts! they are rich in antioxidants & fill you up better.
hmmm... you never feel sore or tired? when you go to the gym, you should be breaking a sweat & feeling a little burn. if you NEVER feel "challenged" then what you're doing is too easy for you.
yes, it is okay to go to the gym for more than 4 days. you should be working out 3-5 times a week for at least 30 minutes. but don't get addicted. your body needs to rest. - i am not so sure if you would even WANT to go for more days after what i just said about how you're PROBABLY not working yourself hard enough. after you feel a little burn, you'll feel tired & not want to go back so much. also, it's better to break a sweat in 30 minutes, stop & feel the burn than just doing something that's too easy for your body for 1.5 - 2 hours. just try doing something a LITTLE more challenged. go up gradually.
