My mind is a blank canvas

Question Posted Friday July 13 2007, 12:49 am

I used to draw and paint all of the time but then I lost the passion so I stopped. Just recently I've been having this very heavy urge to draw, but it seems I have a bit of a mind block. I just don't know what to draw! My creative juices have been strained out of me. I have a lot of pent up images but they all seem so blurry and vague that I can't make them out enough to release them onto paper. Is there anything I can do to let them out? I've tried searching for sketches on the internet (google, yahoo, dogpile, etc.) to inspire me but nothing seems to be working for me. Help? Anything would be greatly appriciated. :)

Hmmm...painting to me, is like a release of emotions, splashes its way through the canvas.
You are much too distracted, you stress yrself on what you are suppose to achieve, or you probably not in the right environment.

Play a song, if it gives you inspiration.
It helps me personally, for it gives me the utmost relaxation, yet stimulates my mental side and lets me run away from reality for that moment.

Hope this helps. =)

oh I havve this problem all the time, if I can't think of anything to draw, I just ask my friends what they want me to draw for them , then once I start drawing I get into it and draw other things for me :]

This may seem a bit wierd, but this is what I do: I look through an art book, and whenever I see a painting or drawing that I like, I let my mind go blank, and just stare at the picture for a while, kind of trying to look through it almost. I look through as many pictures for as long as I feel like it, and that usually helps me create an image of my own.
