Okay. Well I'm going to be a sophomore this year... I need to get straight A's... How hard was your sophomore year? What grades did you get? Any pointers?
xo_underneath answered Sunday July 8 2007, 11:47 pm: Yeah, it really depends on your school. The school I started at my sophomore year was really hard. My geometry teacher always called on me to answer questions I knew nothing about. I was the only one in the class that hadn't taken geometry before, so it wasn't like I could automatically know what he was talking about. My history teacher confused me a lot, and my fourth period class was changed about four times because they had no idea what class to put me into. I don't think I would have passed the tenth grade if I had stayed there.
The school I changed to, however, was ten times easier. The hardest class I had was Spanish 2, and that was because I wasn't used to the teacher's way of teaching Spanish. But overall my teachers were great, I kept A's, B's, and C's all year long, and even though I was new to the school & environment, I adapted very quickly. I think you'll like it :) [ xo_underneath's advice column | Ask xo_underneath A Question ]

It seems dumb, but that's what everyone said to me going in, and it helped a lot. Don't slack off with homework.
My average was a 92 all year, and went up at one point at the second trimester. So it's obtainable to get all A's. Just as I said before don't slack off. Chemistry I think was the hardest subject for me towards the end, since it was easy in the beginning and got somewhat more difficult. So be careful if you're taking chemistry.
All in all I didn't think it was bad. You can get good grades, a lot of people slack off and do badly. As long as you do homework, and take good notes you'll do fine.

If you are taking 2+ AP's then expect it to be difficult. Also, do not procrastinate when it comes to studying for AP's, if you do, expect to go "crazy" around may. If you take any aps, try to get a copy of cliffnotes book for that AP class.
If you aren't taking any AP classes but you are taking honors classes, I would recommend that you just pay attention and study and don't procrastinate.
If your high school isn't that good of a highschool, I wouldn't worry too much about it. For example, my high school is considered one of the top 100 in the country, every year we send someone to Harvard, yale, Berkeley, etc... and I found my sophomore year pretty easy.
superstarblue89 answered Sunday July 8 2007, 5:06 pm: it all depends upon the classes your taking...sophomore year is harder because the teachers don't baby you anymore...like freshman year if you forgot your homework they'd be a little lenient...sophomore year they don't do that. I got decent grades but there are more pop quizzes and you'll need to do more studying...the tests are a lot harder...if you loved freshman year chances are you wont like sophomore year too much...but if you hated freshman year you'll love it...as as for needing to get straight A's...try your hardest...but don't over study and don't forget to have some fun in there too...
