My parents don't really care about my health. About a month ago, I got a huge gash on my shoulder from a rusty, dirty piece of metal at a dirty amusement park, and they didn't let me get a tetnis shot.
When I broke my wrist, they wouldn't take me to a doctor until three days after, and when they did, they took me to a pediatrician.
I found out about a learning disorder, dyscalculia, and I really believe I have it. I'd like to see someone to screen me for it. But they won't let me see anyone.
Next time something happens and I want to see a doctor.
Also, any advice on how to get them to let me get checked out for the last one would be great.
ultraguy55 answered Wednesday July 4 2007, 3:20 pm: hey by the way DID U TAKE TETANUS SHOT NOW????!!!
thats the main part, going by your description of the metal, i suggest you that you rush to the doctor immediately...........now thats the problem right your parents would downplay this as a normal incident. now, here is where you should use the best weapon THE EMOTIONAL BLACKMAIL!!! yes i know this sounds very off track, but just attack (read:convince/understand) them, by asking them that do they really love you or care about you? but ask politely then, give them this scenario analysis, that is for example, "mom, i heard from my teacher that this kid, who had this same problem has developed serious complications blah, blah" etc, u know kind of attracting their attention to the gravity of situation that you are facing. ASK them what is making them to have second thoughts about your life, your age (15 yrs) gives you that warranty. CONFRONT them mildly.
as of dyscalculi, PLEASE PRAY TELL ME HOW DID YOU ANALYSE YOURSELF??? just because you can't do math calculation properly doesn't mean you have dyscalculi etc. please you are very much normal...even i fear MATH, i love it yet i hate it, am i dyscalculi??? NO. so be cool, relax and act matured, so that your parents take the notice of the changes that is comming in you (positive changes) and take care of you more.
SATUTORY WARNING: this emotional blackmail thingy, should be USED only when it is for the above cases, and should not be ABUSED, for small petty things, girl, i might trouble your parents. [ ultraguy55's advice column | Ask ultraguy55 A Question ]

Do some research on the disorder, and present it to them. Tell them the signs that you show that makes you think that you might have this disorder. Outline the benefits of knowing about and treating this disorder. Say that you really believe that you could do better in school if you had help with your problem. Explain to them that how you do in school is very important to the rest of your life and you really want to excel.
Your parents care about you and want the best for you. I'm sure if you present them with this arguement, they will take you to a doctor.
