Question Posted Saturday June 30 2007, 10:03 pm

So I'm 5'1" and 150 pounds. I really need to lose weight, however, I am an emotional eater and I can't give up food. I seem to always be eating even if I don't want to be...just because I'm bored or I'm depressed.
I really need help in how to stop emotional eating.

I have the perfect solution: when you're feeling upset and are craving a snack, why not reach for something healthy? There are lots of healthy snacks you can have in place of junk food.

Keep a bag of fresh baby carrots in the fridge. Keep some celery on hand too. Apples are a great snack too. There's also those 100 calorie snack packs. The Chex mix one is really good.

After having a reasonable portion of those healthy snacks, if you're still feeling hungry, get your body busy doing something so you won't be tempted to keep eating.

Listen to music and take a jog. Throw yourself into cleaning your room. Do something fun that makes you happy.

Good luck!

Okay, i totally understand where you are coming from. I am 5'6" and I was (and this is embarrasing) about 170 pounds and then i lost it all.

This is how I did it. I went out with my friends and went jogging or just walking while I talked with them and hung out. That was fun and while I was doing that I was getting exercise. Also if you do anything to keep your heart rate elevated then your burning calories!

With the food. I eat 1,000 calories a day, but if i go over a little, I won't get frustrated I just say "Hey I am human." Also I eat when im hungry I have 90 calorie mini delights by Quaker Oats. It has chocolate drizzled all over it and its amazing! Stuff like that and combined with exercising will take all the weight off you want.

I hope that helped
: )

hey, alright well im happy that your not in denial. i would surround yourself with things to do. keep yourself occupied whether its spending time with friends or family, reading a book, shopping, or whatever. just dont get bored that often. also go shopping for healthy foods. have your family pitch in too. make them have a junk food cabinet that they lock up so you cant get to it. diet dinners at the food store are great. they even have diet dinner deserts. try them out. =]

Instead of eating junk food, eat something healthy.

Like I know, it's going to be hard, but you have to try to stop.

Try fruits and rice cakes.

Try bike rides to relieve stress and anxiety.
