Tips to "Win People Over"

I have heard that saying someones name often in conversation and smiling are great for appearing likable and friendly. What are some other tips for this? The more the better, thanks! =)

Maybe give some free advice about: Friendship?
Eye contact [but not staring the person down like a sniper], shake someone's hand when you meet them [like parents of friends, older people you know, etc] and just being genuine and nice. Smile, be pleasant, and make yourself seem approachable [don't have iPod headphones in when you're meeting new people]
If you're on this site asking this question, you're probably trying to make a good impression. So long as you try, you'll be fine. Seriously, polite teenagers are so hard to come by; a simple "Hi Mrs. Grant, how are you?" can be enough to give a person a coronary.

Compliments! But too many makes you seem fake. Also, ask them open ended questions about themselves. Being interested in them makes you seem very friendly.
And free candy never hurts...
