Keeping T-Mobile

Question Posted Thursday June 28 2007, 3:28 pm

My phone service is T-Mobile, but I want to get a Verizon Wireless phone.

Is there any way to keep T-Moblie but have the Verizon phone?

If so, then how much would it cost to switch phones but keep the same service, and number if possible?

And how would I do it?

Thanks in Advance.

nope, because T-mobile uses a sim card and verizon doesnt so there is not change of that. verizon ithink is the only serivce provider tat doesnt have a sim card.

well if the phone is verizon only, then no you can`t have it with t-mobile.

you see verizon doesn`t have SIM cars, which is what t-mobile uses. verizon uses a different method and they connect your number to an actual phone, while t-mobile uses the card so you can switch phones.

so depending on the type of phone and if it's verizon exclusive or not, you may or may not be able to.

if the phone is motorola - you can goto motorola.com and buy it off of there - and just get an unlocked GSM. otherwise there is no other way.

well you would have to cancel your tmobile phone right now, which, like the person below me said, costs $200. so if your contract is ending soon, then just wait. if its ending in like a year, just pay the cancellation fee.
after that, you buy an Unlocked cell phone for verizon, meaning any carrier can use it.
then you take it to tmobile, and they should let you keep your number

I am totally in your situation. I have T-Mobile and want to get Verizon. Thing with T-Mobile is to end your contract it's about $200 per line The $200 is the deactivation fee. (If you're in or have a family plan, you'll pay for $400 for two lines I think if it's just your number you'll pay just $200). The $200 is a lot of money to end service. Try checking when your contract is done, if it's soon try to wait for the contract to end and then switch, but if it's in 2 years like mine, you might or might not want to pay to $200. If you do switch your service to Verizon they'll be able to keep your same phone number. Someone in my family went from Cingular to Verizon and they kept their same cell number, so I think you'll be able to.

Anyways, I don't think you can keep your T-Mobile with getting a Verizon phone unless you get a prepaid. If you want to do that you'll still be paying T-Mobile plus the Verizon prepaid which doesn't really seem like a good idea to me, but maybe you'll want to do that.

I hope this helps, and good luck with that. :)

But an 'unlocked' phone.
There are tons of websties.
How it works is,
you buy a phone and put your sim card in.
Then voila!
Just make sure the phone is compatible with T-Mobile. There's a lsit on the site ;]
