Today when I went to the doctors, he told me I need to get an MRI done on my spine to make sure everything's okay with it. But my question is for people who have had MRI's before. Do they hurt? Are they boring? Are they long? Etc.

I don't think they have the same style of machines, but they're the same thing.
My MRI's took about an hour. If they need to add dye to get clearer results (it's just a needle with some minerals), it should take around an additional 20 minutes.
They don't hurt at all. You just lay there.
I find them extremely boring. My MRI machine was super loud (I had to wear earplugs) and made really weird sounds. I always end up falling asleep, even through all the sound. Plus it goes by a lot faster.
Overall, they're not bad at all. Good luck with your results! [ leLovely's advice column | Ask leLovely A Question ]

it doesnt hurt at all, but if you are clostrophobic(not sure if this is spelled right), then it might be alittle scary, like if you are afraid of small spaces.
but try not to worry about what the results are of the MRI, because to me that is the scary part. when you worry about it then you might think it is bad but its not.
the only part that could be considered to hurt at all is if you have IV contrast, which is where they put some contrast or dye in your body, with a needle, so that they can see your back more clearly to identify any problems..

The hardest part is laying there and not moving for the entire time. THe machine is pretty loud too. I didnt have to have an IV or anything... you just kinda go into this big huge tube thing. overall its not bad at all [ karlyndarlin05's advice column | Ask karlyndarlin05 A Question ]

I had a MRI done last year. They really aren't bad at all. They're just kinda boring. They can be for any length of time. Mine lasted for about an hour. The only semi-bad part (well for me because i hate needles) is the IV they give you before you get the x-ray. It doesn't really hurt, its just kind of icky. Its about like the ones they give you to get blood drawn. Basically they put the IV in you and you go inside a machiene and hold still for a long time. It makes loud noises sometimes, so you can't really sleep. They aren't particularly fun, but it really isn't anything to be worried about. I hope your spine turns out okay.
