Switch schools or not

Question Posted Friday June 22 2007, 8:02 pm

I really don't know what to do. There is this new school that opened up and has really high scores like the teachers teach better curiculum. My school is like on the bottom list and I barely learned anything. I want to go to the new school, but to leave all my friends and everything behind is just so sad. I know I can see them but just the whole school. And I also really like this guy and I would probably never see him again. Please help!

I think you should, it's probably really nice and you will learn allot more and that's something really important. I know it will be hard not seeing your friends everyday but i'm sure you'll be able to hang out with them after school, and on weekends. And you will make allot of new friends also.

really this comes down to what is more important to you. you have to think about what will be better for you in the long run. The better education would stay with you for the rest of your life, while as staying at the old school might gain you a typical high school relationship that lasts a few months and then you forget about it. and hey, who says you cant ask for the guys number before you leave. if hes into you, he'll give it, if hes not, you dont have to worry about it because you wont be seeing him anymore. so think of it as a away to find out and get you out of a rut with this guy. as for your friends, the good ones will stick around and help you with the transition. they wont go anywhere. you never know, you might get a fresh start at your new school and find the perfect guy. if its just opening up, im sure everyone there isnt going to know many people and will be a little scared, so im sure making friends wont be a problem

That happened to me too! (the school thing)
I don't know how it happened but I adapted somehow. Your grammar and spelling is almost perfect, so you sound intelligent. I think you can handle it. You never know with these kinds of things. Just because a school has higher schools does not necessarily mean you will fail or something. You can always get help from teachers, tutors, parents, guidance counselors, and new friends if you are ever having trouble. What grade are you going into?

As for the guy, what is your relationship with him? You should tell him. Long distance relationships can work. Do you have a Myspace or Facebook? It's one way to keep in touch in addition to e-mail and old-school letters or just plain visiting if you don't move too far away.

You just have to think to yourself what you like better. High scores and better curiculums, or your friends, and of course that guy.

I say, stay with the school you have, and maybe if its important to you, you can learn on your own and stuff. I dont really think it matters about what your school ranks, only to the teachers and stuff, and just if you stay at that school at least you can try your hardest and get good grades there!

Friends come and go. And you'll be seeing them, I think you said.

I would go for the new school. If you want to get a good job and be better-suited for the real world, and learn something, its the best place to go.

I say that your education is really important.
Its your choice, but I would go to the new place.
I'm in the same situation. My school district is opening a new school this fall, and I could choose between the new and the old: the old having the majority of my friends, and the new having better educational opportunities.
