there are so many ways of getting them. its like almost impossible to not have them. but you can make your hair healthy looking by getting your hair trimmed every other month. also if you straighten your hair, try using heat protectant things to prevent heat damage on your hair. =]

Get trims every few months on a repeated basis. Surge Plus 14 Hair Revitalizer works well to prevent split ends and promotes healthy hair:

You should trim your ends every month or so, for 1 or 2 inches.

"Leave-in conditioners and hair oils only temporarily stick them back together, too. None are permanent repairers, for nothing can repair split ends."

Cause of split ends:

• Excessive hair coloring

• Vigorous brushing

• Perming solutions

• Hair Straightening

• Heat during hairstyling work

• Not trimming your hair regularly

• Sleeping with your hair in a ponytail

• Too much sun

• Poor health

To prevent split ends:

The best treatment is to cut off the split end. Get a trim every six weeks.

Regular trims will keep the ends neat and help prevent them from splitting further.

You can prevent split ends by keeping your hair hydrated and healthy.

• Don't brush your hair too often or too extensively.

• Don't brush wet hair.

• Use brushes and combs with smooth, flexible, wide-spaced teeth.

• Avoid nylon bristles.

• Condition after shampooing, and use a deep conditioner once a month.

• Apply conditioner only on the tips after you dry your hair.

• Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and wind.

• Wear a hat to minimize sun damage.

• Use shampoo rich in ceramides.

• Rub olive oil into the ends of hair 2-3 times per week. Leave the oil overnight and wash out in the morning.

This should be enough to eliminate your split ends.

1. Trim them. You can't permanently fix them, but there's temporary fixes, like split-end mender or a dab of olive oil.

2. Prevent them by using moisturizing shampoos and conditioner, using protecting sprays, creams, etc in your hair, and minimizing how many appliances you use on your hair- blowdryers, curling irons, straighteners, etc.

The only way to get rid of spit ends once you have them is to get them cut off. Nothing else works, no matter what a product may claim.

To prevent them, take good care of your hair. Condition it. Try not to wash it everyday so it won't get too dry. Don't tease it often, or if possible, at all. Stay away from harsh products. And get regular trims.
