I want to get my boyfriend a Valentine 1 radar detector, but I don't know if it's worth the money. Do they actually pay for a speeding ticket if you get one? and how reliable is it? I want to hear from people who have experience with this detector, not a website explaining how it works. The only websites I would actually take time going to are ones that have reviews on them. So, help?
Additional info, added Tuesday June 19 2007, 3:19 pm: I live in Texas, but I don't know if it's illegal or not. My brother has gotten pulled over a couple of times and he has a radar detector, but they didn't give him a ticket for it.. Want to answer more questions in the Technology category? If it goes off and the cop was checking you. Its too late [ ssschallenger's advice column | Ask ssschallenger A Question ]

Look on the boxes, some guarantee that they will pay for the ticket and if you get caught, they will also pay for traffic school. They are reliable and whenever the scanner hits it, it goes off.
Also, part of the comment below mine is false. Cops cannot give you a ticket for having the detector in your car.

So, if you get pulled over for speeding, you get a ticket for that, and a ticket for having a radar detector. But chances are you'll reduce speed before the cop can clock you, so in that case, it's worth it. About them paying for the speeding ticket, I'm not sure. But I highly doubt it.
