does this work in excercising?

Question Posted Friday June 15 2007, 9:18 pm

Everday or mostly everyday I stretch, then run for about 15-20 minutes. Mostly at the end of the day around 8:00 pm. I try to do 50 crunches too afterwards, and pushups, but my body just feels so tired and I can't get myself to do them. So I was wondering if I would still get the same results if I did my crunches and pushups in the morning, then ran at my regular time. Or will I get in shape faster if I do them all one after the other? I am begging you, please someone answer this question who knows about fitness, not just someone who is guessing. Thanks! by the way i'm 13

Actually, it's better to do cardio at the end of your workout. Like you're experiencing, if you do cardio first, your muscles are tired and you don't get as good a workout with the rest of your body.
You can do light cardio, like, jumping jacks to get your heart pumping before you start working out...but try reversing things. Stretch, then do 50 crunches, then your pushups, and THEN go run for 15-20 minutes. Make sure you stretch at the end of your workout, too. Your muscles can get all stiff and uncomfy if you don't. Lol, or at least that's what happens to me.
I'm pretty sure it's better to work out in one big chunk. You're putting strain on your muscles every time you work them out; they need time to heal. If you're constantly working out they don't have that time.
Let me know if it works for you to reverse things. It should help you get your full workout in.
Good luck!

It doesn't really matter if you break up your work out or if you do it all in one time.. Actaully, it's probably better if you do half your routine in the morning and half at night. If you're doing your crunches at night or in the morning, you should still stretch and maybe get some sort of cardio in to get your blood flowing. But breaking the routine up will be better for you because it's less strenuous on your body.
