Eating

Question Posted Thursday June 14 2007, 2:33 pm

I need help. I've been watching my weight for an extremely long time. I do ok, I eat about 1200-1500 calories a day & run 4 times a week for about 20 minutes. I eat a lot of fruit, yogurt, cereal, veggies, etc. I was really depressed today. I'm not sure why. I went downstairs & I just started eating. I had 100 calorie pack chocolate chip muffins. I have no idea why I ate them. That's usually not the way I behave. I don't eat those sort of things, but they were in my house because they're 100 calorie packs. After I finish eating them & drinking milk, I just lose it. I start crying & basically have a panic attack. I work so hard & randomly I just eat something I know I normally wouldn't eat, but my mind just does it's own thing & I end up eating something I don't want to. I'm going to be upset for the rest of the day & I'm not sure if I want to eat dinner. How can I get over this?

You need to realize that with your normal every day healthy diet and your good exercise regimen, it won't hurt you to cheat and munch on things that aren't good for you now and again. It's nothing to be upset over, and it's definitely nothing to be skipping meals over.

Skipping meals is a bad thing. When you do, your body thinks its starving and needs to store fat, so it stores extra when you eat next time. It is your body's natural survival instinct, weather you need to store fat or not.

It's wonderful that you watch what you eat and do healthy exercise, but don't turn it into an obsession by flipping out every time you eat something unhealthy, or you are opening yourself up for trouble with eating disorders.

Yah, you slipped up on your healthy diet for the day- IT IS OK. You will be fine, I promise. No since crying over drank milk, right?

I know what you mean. I watch what I eat so much now. I used to eat horribly and i hated how I looked, so then I started running, then I ate healthier. Ive been doing this since maybe Feburary. I lost almost 10 pounds too. Sometimes even now I go insane and eat something I want to but shouldn't. Like espically since theres alot of graudation parties this summer.. I always loose it and eat like 2 sandwiches and cake. I hate myself so bad for it. And when im eating I always think, "whatever I won't gain weight and I just have been doing good lately I should be rewarded". And then the next day I gain a lb and think, "okay omg I will never do that again, Ive got to stick to eating good". And then it happenes again and yeahhh.. But I haven't in a while. A lot of the time I have lunch then want some more stuff and I just keep looking threw my kitchen. And eventually I'll go on the computer for a while and then 10 minutes later I'll be like .. "wow I totally forgot about eating more". But some times I am like, "okay I just NEED a little icecreme" and when I have some I go out and be active, trying to burn it off. So basically, if your infront of temptation.. litteraly get your mind off of it by walking away. Get as far as you need to before you for get about it. If you dooo happen to eat a little treat (which is okay if its a serving size and you can controll how much you eat) and feel guilty about it then work it off. I hope this helped! Heres a article I think you'd like.. (its small and easy to read so check it out)

It could be your horemones honey, and you are just going to get your period. All women go through that, that is why women are so notorious for loving chocolate. And since you made sure you only at a 100 calorie snack, don't be so hard on yourself. Overall it sounds like you are doing a great job taking care of your health and keeping your weight down. When dinner time comes you are going to be healthy. Drink more water for the rest of the day.
Remeber, your weight fluctuates thoughout the day, week and month, You should just weigh yourself, once a week, at the same time every week, and let it go at that. Maybe some vitamins will help you through the monthly PMS and weight gain and cavings of getting your period. They worked for me.
