I feel terrible when I pray because I'm defninitely using God. Like I don't praise him at all, I only turn to him when I need help, and he always DOES help me. Which kinda makes me feel worse. How do I get into the habit of turning to him when I'm actually doing good and "dont need him" (of course I always do, but you get the picture!) ?

You are right in thinking that you should praise him. And God knows that you feel guilty about it, but you still need to tell him. It's as simple as that. Start right now, just take time out and pray, telling him how you feel. When ever you remember, just stop and say thanks. It doesn't have to be fancy, he knows what you mean. Make a habit of starting your prayer with praise. Thank him for all he's done, and ask for forgiveness for whatever you need to ask it for. THEN ask him for help. He is there for that. Don't worry, this is nothing that can't easily be fixed! Good luck =) [ Shortcake22's advice column | Ask Shortcake22 A Question ]

you practicaly are praying when you turn to him at bad times. I think hes glad you tell him your problums not exclude him out of your life. but if you feel that bad about it, why dont you start praising him and worshiping, after all he does help you all those times, cant you atleast pay him back just alittle of your preshious time? sugarplum07 answered Sunday June 10 2007, 7:30 pm: In my opinion, that's what he's there for. To help us and guide us when we need help and guidance. I feel the same way as you sometimes. Whenever I pray for something, I always take a minute to thank God for something he has already given me. It makes me feel a lot better. So next time you pray, thank him for something and you'll feel less guilty.
See, it's silly to turn to God when we don't need anything. Technically, we all need something, even if it's something as big as ending world hunger. You know what I mean? I think praying is a wonderful thing and more people should do it. Maybe you could also pray for other people and the things they might need.
