Using God?

Question Posted Sunday June 10 2007, 4:46 pm

I feel terrible when I pray because I'm defninitely using God. Like I don't praise him at all, I only turn to him when I need help, and he always DOES help me. Which kinda makes me feel worse. How do I get into the habit of turning to him when I'm actually doing good and "dont need him" (of course I always do, but you get the picture!) ?

i don't think you are using God, but I understand. Sometimes I feel selfish, like I'm asking him for so many things and then I don't give him any credit. Sometimes you just need to sit down and pray, and thank him for all the good things he's given you instead of asking for more. But God is there to help and guide you, he just needs a little thanking too.

Okay, let me start off by saying that it is clearly stated in the Bible that that is not just what he is there for. You are right in thinking that you should praise him. And God knows that you feel guilty about it, but you still need to tell him. It's as simple as that. Start right now, just take time out and pray, telling him how you feel. When ever you remember, just stop and say thanks. It doesn't have to be fancy, he knows what you mean. Make a habit of starting your prayer with praise. Thank him for all he's done, and ask for forgiveness for whatever you need to ask it for. THEN ask him for help. He is there for that. Don't worry, this is nothing that can't easily be fixed! Good luck =)

well i say that you shoule go to church more than anything and to start praying mpre at night or when you think its the best time to pray for something like praying for someone or something thats going on with your life.. well yea you are using god but he doesnt care he loves the fact that you turn to him than turning to ur friends or famnily first im saying this because i am a christian and yeah ive gone through the same thing you are going through its not that big of a deal when you think you are using him
because either way you look at it you will always use him no matter what anyone says.

I really dont belive there is a way to USE god.
you practicaly are praying when you turn to him at bad times. I think hes glad you tell him your problums not exclude him out of your life. but if you feel that bad about it, why dont you start praising him and worshiping, after all he does help you all those times, cant you atleast pay him back just alittle of your preshious time?

In my opinion, that's what he's there for. To help us and guide us when we need help and guidance. I feel the same way as you sometimes. Whenever I pray for something, I always take a minute to thank God for something he has already given me. It makes me feel a lot better. So next time you pray, thank him for something and you'll feel less guilty.

See, it's silly to turn to God when we don't need anything. Technically, we all need something, even if it's something as big as ending world hunger. You know what I mean? I think praying is a wonderful thing and more people should do it. Maybe you could also pray for other people and the things they might need.

God is there for that. You're not using him. You're just creating a stupid way to make yourself feel bad about something.

Its ok to ask him for help, thats when you need him. but when you do pray, also thank him for everything that hes done, or thank him for the things that he helped you with.
