ED-NOS?

Question Posted Wednesday June 6 2007, 8:45 pm

Hm, I know that I'm not bulimic. But do I have EDNOS? I was reading info. off of google today and there wasn't too much of a help. I hate my body and I'm so self consious it makes me miserable. I will eat dinner or a normal amount of food, not binge, and I'll purge. I feel so much better after I do it. I'll go through periods where I won't do it for weeks, and sometimes I do it multiple times a week. What is wrong with me? (I started doin this over a yr ago)

I think you do have an EDNOS, if not a low key case of bulemia. Technically, you could be considered a bulemic. Binging doesn't have to occur to signify bulemia. Any purging counts. But if you say you aren't bulemic, yes, you have an EDNOS.

ED-NOS is eating disorder not otherwise specified. It's basically a category where they put all other eating disorders because they can't categorize all of them. If you really aren't bulimic, and you do have harmful/odd eating habits, yes you do have EDNOS.

Well, EDNOS is an eating disorder that can either be a form of anorexia or bulimia. Therefore, you do have symptoms of bulimia, but that isn't being a true bulimic. Do not do this to yourself. I know what you're going through. I do not have bulimia myself, but I do have symptoms of Anorexia so I guess I could have EDNOS myself. I always watch what I eat & it has been an ongoing thing for a long time. I have a similar problem to you mentally, but I do not throw up my food. It is definitely worse than getting weight and just because you eat 3 meals does not mean you are gaining weight. If you throw up forcefully, your teeth enamel could be ruined totally & a lot of other conditions. You can google them if you'd like, but I'm sure you're aware of them & have been lectured about it someway or another. You're self image is what is wrong with you. You have to realize that you're allowed to eat. You're supposed to eat. People eat to stay alive. Do not do this to yourself. You should eat all 3 meals and exercise. You'll be fine & will not gain weight if you do that. It would be next to impossible. If you eat fruits, veggies, meats, crackers, etc. & stick to a healthy, regular workout schedule, you can stay the weight you want without throwing food up. Think of it this way. If you eat only healthy food with a few favorite foods here & there, why would you need to throw it up? It isn't bad for you, so you wouldn't. I think you should talk to a professional. You said it's been going on for over a year & that's way too long for an eating problem. Here's a website-

It sounds like you do have EDNOS. Try talking to a family member/friend about it.

-hope that helped!♥
