I'll explain this in layman's terms.

The Catholics during the middle ages were like

"dude, lets go recapture the holy land(Jerusalem) from the infidels(muslims and jews)"

So they started to build up an army to send over there. Because the church was corrupt and stupid, they said to the average person.

"dude, if you join the crusades and kill a bunch of infidels(muslims and jews) in the name of God, God will forgive you of your sins and you will automatically go to heaven when you die"

So the christians created a big ass army, went to jerusalem, and kicked some ass. Then they got their asses kicked so they sent more people, then they got their asses kicked again...

The crusades accomplished nothing, just a bunch of dead muslims, jews, and christians...

They were one of the most ironic and ignorant events in history. It mos more or less nothing but a religious conflict, and if you know ANYTHING about Christianity, you'd realize that the entire concept just doesn't work.Killing people in the name of a god who's teaching are to be loving and accepting towards others?More like using religion as an excuse to do whatever you want. When you say that someone murdered another person, obviously it's horrible-once you say it's in the name of god everything seems to be alright.

And they accomplished nothing,by the way.

MW8305 answered Wednesday June 6 2007, 12:57 pm:
The Crusades were a series of military conflicts of a religious character waged by Christians during 1095–1291, most of which were sanctioned by the Pope in the name of Christendom.[1] The Crusades originally had the goal of recapturing Jerusalem and the sacred "Holy Land" from Muslim rule and were originally launched in response to a call from the Eastern Orthodox Byzantine Empire for help against the expansion of the Muslim Seljuq dynasty into Anatolia.[2][3]

I can't remember how they started (dang, I just took a test on that, too, lol)
But they helped unite the people of England and all of the countries they'd attacked.
I, personally think they were a waste, especially the children's crusade, but just think, if those things wouldn't have happened, things would be VERY different.
