wut is with these math symbols?!

wut does it mean when there is a nuber after a = sign the a slash through it
for example:
for the question, Express the difference: , as a single fraction in simplest form

Usually it is in the from of [ a letter ] then [ equal sign with a slash ] then last [ a number ].

What that means is. What ever the letter is (say its "G") G does NOT equal the number after the equal sign.
