im not sure if waterproof cameras are the same as underwater cameras, but there are underwater cameras that can be used when swimming or diving, and as long as the water is clear they usually take very good pictures. underwater cameras can usually be found at drugstores.

i'm pretty sure that kodak makes them, and you can probably find them at a convenience store like walgreens. but yes, if it has the plastic underwater housing around it (plastic case around it) then you can use it underwater. it's good for snorkelers and skin divers. however, if you wanted to go scuba diving, it probably wouldn't be so great because scuba divers normally go to like 60 feet below sea level and the underwater cameras can only go to about 30 feet below sea level. but it's great for use in a lake or pool or anything, or even beside a pool if you might get splashed. the pictures won't be awesome, but they do turn out.

I don't know any names but there are disposable cameras made for under water...the waterproof ones are just if water happens to get on them nothing will happy..but just like a waterproof watch or anything else for that matter, it has limits to the amount of water that can get on it...taking it underwater would be a poor idea...I would definitely get one of the ones made for underwater photography. you can tell because they are bulky with a (usually blue) plastic covering and are sometimes see through

No, I wouldnt. I think it means like, if your swimming, and some water accidently gets on it, like a splash. Go to WalMart, or like any other store because they probably have some better ones for that.
