Question Posted Friday June 1 2007, 7:10 pm

Just out of curiousity, what do you prefer better, Yahoo Answers or Advicenators and why?

Advicenators. Yahoo Answers has probably the worst questions out of any advice website and answers are often abusive or just plain wrong. Because you get points for answering it turns into a big rating competition. I tried it and hate it. And it's really disorganized.
Advicenators is more like a community. The columnists talk to each other about issues and we have a fairly good system for getting rid of inappropriate or truly awful questions.

advicenators, by far. I mean yahoo is good for some types of questions that no one on here would know anything about but it's so fast and some things are so stupid... they do't filter out dumb questions. also, there's like 328490238 people on there... i like the sense of community on here, where people actually TRY to give decent answers...most of the time. <3

I like the slower pace of Advicenators. Every time you refresh Answers, there is a bunch more questions asked, too many for me to keep track of. I like being the first to answer questions, so it doesn't sound like I'm copying the person before me, and in my experience that's impossible with Answers. Also, I'm also not a fan of Yahoo; I try to stay away from their products.

But, like Thew says, its harder to find quality questions on Advicenators; I really hate the "there's this boy", "how do I loose weight", "IT'S URGENT"(which turns out to be about makeup). And there's almost no questions later at night, since the L2 mods all seem to be near the same time zone.

I definitely agree with the person below me.

Advicenators is easier to use and having your own column makes it sort of like MySpace, which is why a lot of people like it. They get their own page and get rated and all that fun stuff.

The only advantage Yahoo Answers has over this site is that a lot of the questions are more mature and there's a more broad range of things people need. It isn't all "omg i like this guy, what do i do?!" like it is here a lot.

It really depends on your personal taste. I prefer this site unless I'M asking a question and expecting an educated answer instead of a 13 year old girl trying to give ME advice on life, you know?
