My nephew

Question Posted Thursday May 31 2007, 10:45 pm

This question is for 23 year old males. I have a nephew who is 23 and is the following normal behavior for a 23 year old. I am very close to him (and have always been close to him as well as his 16 year old brother - my other nephew) but he doesnt call me anymore or IM me any more and the only time we we spend together is at family functions. He lives only 5 minutes away. Does he do it because he thinks it annoys me or is there another reason? I am really hurt and I love him (as well as his brother - my other nephew) HELP

i agree with the below answer, and like they said, dont ask them straight, just be all "haven't seen you in a long time eh?" something like that...

I'm not a guy, and I'm sad to say I'm beyond 23, but maybe I can help.
Maybe it is because he is just a busy guy? He is 23 years old and surely trying to get his life started and put on track. Or, maybe he is just out enjoying his young life while it's still around.

As we get older, life catches up to us more and more, and sometimes we wake up and realize, "Gee, it's been quite a while since I talked to my favorite aunt. Where did the time go?" It would be my guess that this is probably the cause. I don't see any reason why he would blatantly avoid someone he is so close with and loves.

I highly doubt he intends to hurt your feelings.

My advice? He lives 5 minutes away- cruise on over there and talk to him. Only he can give you the actual answer to your question. Ask him what he's been up to these days, and maybe that would give you the answer you seek without outright saying "What's the deal, here."
