my boyfriend and i have been having sex for about a month now. We use condoms and i don't want to get on birth control pills because my parents may be able to tell. is there anything else i could do to prevent pregnancy
You could use spermicide with the condoms, you can get it at the drugstore also.
There's also the diaphragm, you insert it into your vagina prior to sex, then take it out afterwards.
You could also get the 'patch'. But I've read somewhere that it caused some kind of ovarian tumor or something but you'd have to look that up for sure.
Here is a website that you could go to if you need more information.
But to be sure what kind of birth control is the best for you, go see your doctor. Or, if you wouldn't like to go to your doctor, you could find a free clinic near your neighborhood.
They will give you a prescription if that's what you choose, or they will help steer you in the right direction of what you should use if you don't need a prescription. If you choose a method of internal birth control, such as the diaphragm, the doctor, may need to fit you for it.
Google 'alternative birth control methods' and read up. You may decide what you want to use before you even go to the doctor. It will make it much easier.

There's the coil, a contraceptive injection (if you're allergic to this or you don't like it then it can't be reversed, you have to wait for the effects to ware off...), theres an implant which is placed under your arm and releases the hormone progesterone and stops ovulation.
Theres a contraceptive patch or a diagphram/cap.
Theres a lot of suggestions there, you should maybe visit your GP or a health clinic for more information about them all.
Then if you're still unsure about using condoms and you don't want to try any of those options, then I suggest you don't have sex till your ready for another alternative. [ x_s_a_r_a_h_x's advice column | Ask x_s_a_r_a_h_x A Question ]

If you can get to a doctor once every three months, there's Depo Provera. It's an injected contraceptive, and it's actually more effective than the pill. You just get a needle once every three months, and you're set.
I would not rely on just condoms if I were you. I had a friend who recently had to have an abortion because she got pregnant while using condoms. It's really hard on a person to do something like that, and from the sounds of it, you're not old enough to deal with pregnancy. [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]

But if you don't want your mom to know then I'd just use condoms. Otherwise you can use a shot from the doctor, or a lot of other things. askkatie answered Wednesday May 23 2007, 7:15 am: The safest and best way to prevent pregnancy is not having sex at all. Condoms break. That's all their is too it. If you don't want to get pregnant then you should probably wait until your mom can buy you the pill, you'd be safest that way. Sorry, but that's all I have to tell you.
